Rock 'n' Roll

Caleb's Bubbe left Tuesday morning (a separate post with those photos is forthcoming), within less than 12 hours he had already reached a new milestone! We now have an increasingly mobile baby! Last night Caleb started rolling onto his side and rotated himself 90 degrees in his crib! He had his blanket wrapped around his thumb in his mouth and was sucking in the blanket and talking, all while reaching for a toy. Of course I cought it on video:

Well, I didn't catch the rolling, but I captured some very cute in the side time.
Of course he wouldn't do it again for his Daddy when he came home, so I put him on his tummy for a bit. All of the sudden, Caleb flipped himself over onto his back! He was just as surprised as we were, and was about to cry until he realized he had actually WANTED to be that way... Then he turned on that 100 watt smile.

I know that I am way behind and there are quite a few things I will post about soon. Namely a visit from Bubbe, playdate with Will, Alexa's Birthday Party, Ella's , Rinah's and Shoshana's baby namings, and mommy's battle with Strep. Life is just a little crazy right now, so I am begging for patience.

Shoshana Joy Gets her Name

On Sunday we went to Caleb's 4th baby naming!  (It would have been his 5th, but we weren't able to make it to Dana's.)  On May 10th we welcomed Caleb's newest friend, Shoshana Joy to the world, and so we were very excited to join her parents, Scott and Alison, in celebrating her introduction to the Jewish Community.  It was a beautiful ceremony and the food was great!  We had a wonderful time.

Shoshana has an AMAZING head of hair!  Caleb is a little jealous, but Mommy is thankful she was spared the heartburn Alison had from 16 weeks on!

We enjoyed hanging out with lots of our friends - including Reah and her mommy, Laura.

Caleb even got to spend time with Shoshana's Great-Grandma!  She was so nice!

Since Shoshana's mommy and daddy didn't find out whether she would be a boy or a girl, we (namely Mommy) had really been hoping we would get to celebrate her with a Bris.  Even if Caleb didn't get a boy to play with though, we are so excited that Caleb will have the opportunity to grow up with so many wonderful friends, including Shoshana!

Alexa Turns One - And a Visit with Will!

This is a pre-dated post, because Mommy is finally catching up with all the picture taking she's been doing!  So disregard the date this is actually being posted, and check out the date that I "said" it was posted (one week ago).

Caleb's friend Alexa turned 1 this weekend!  On Friday we went to the Galleria for a little exercise with Aunt Suzy and Alexa's mommy, Michelle, and then met Davina for Lunch.  It was fun because we also got to see Daddy, who works in an office building attached to the Galleria!  Alexa and Caleb got to play for a little bit.  Ella was sleeping in her stroller, so she didn't join in the fun this time.

On Saturday morning we went to our new friend Rinah's baby naming to celebrate with her parents - Debra and Jeremy.  We also got to see Maxwell's Grandma while we were there!  Then we headed to the airport to pick up Bubbe!!!  (There will be a whole separate post dedicated to Bubbe's visit, so we'll come back to that later.)  From the airport we went to Alexa's Birthday Party where we had a great time!  We got to play with our friends, including Ella, and we got to watch Alexa devour a super-yummy cupcake (Caleb wasn't jealous yet... but it's only a matter of time).  We even got to meet Shane's Bubbe (Sasa and Shelly's Mommy), Julie!  She was super fun (even if Shane wouldn't open his eyes for a single picture)!

Caleb LOVES Shane. Whenever he is around, Caleb just watches him with wonder.  That's a good thing because, being the only other boy around Dallas in our group of Friends, Shane is going to have to show Caleb the ropes. Having a boy around is an anomoly for Shane too, so he has already agreed that he'll show Caleb how to be a good boy as he gets older.

Later that night, after a much-needed nap and a little cuddle time with Bubbe, we had a suprise opportunity to go visit Caleb's friend Will who was visiting with his mommy and daddy from Austin.  Will's mommy is Daddy's best friend from Law School, Lauren, so it is super cool that Will and Caleb were born less than a month apart!  Of course, Will is MUCH bigger than Caleb, because he was born 10.5 pounds and 24 inches (not much smaller than Caleb is today), but what Caleb lacks in size (not that he's too small), he makes up for in SMILES!  Caleb is now about 24 inches and 11.25 pounds and Will is 27 inches and 17 pounds.  Unfortunately, Daddy couldn't make it for the visit because he was sick, so Mommy and Bubbe had to do all the Will-cuddling:

On Sunday we had more fun with Bubbe, and we got to celebrate our new friend, Shoshana Joy!  (But Mommy will send out more about that later).

Unfortunately, Mommy found out the next day that she had strep throat!  Hopefully none of the friends she was hugging or kissing at the naming or at any other of the weekend's festivities will get sick.  Caleb appears to be okay, thankfully, and I am feeling much better after 4 doses of anti-biotics, so it's back to the grind tomorrow!  Okay, that's all for this post, but since I am posting from the computer rather than the iPhone, I have a few older photos that I just have to share:

We will have a separate post about Ella Maayan's baby naming soon, but for now Mommy needs to brag about Caleb's newest milestone! As of Saturday, Caleb reaches out and grabs things (which of course then go straight into his mouth)! I could tell you about it, but I thought I might show you instead!

Golly Gee! Caleb's Three (months)!

Can you believe it has already been three months since Caleb was born? His Mommy can't! On Monday, Caleb joined the 3-monthers club with a great birthday present! Shoshana Joy Mellon! We got to meet Shoshana when she came home from the hospital on Wednesday. Caleb was a little jealous because Shoshana has more hair than he does! Mommy is fine with the hair differential, it saved her from the heartburn Shoshana's mommy started suffering from 18 weeks! Here is a photo of Caleb's beautiful new friend!



A birthday would not be complete without a photo shoot with the month stickers from Aunt Suzy! As far as Mommy can tell, Caleb is 10.5 pounds now and 22 inches. I guess those 3-6 month clothes sizes are just an estimate! We probably won't even pull those out for another month!












By the way, that yellow stuffed animal is some kind of alien/monster thing that Mommy's friend Thao gave Caleb. It is very weird, but Mommy loves it!!!

Fingers and Toe!

OMG! What are these totally awesome wiggly things about a foot away from my face? Watch them move! If only I could reach them! What are they called!?! Oh! Feet!





Oh, wait! What else?!? It's a poity thing that I can put in my mouth and suck on! It appears to be attached to my hand. What do you call it!?! Finger!!!



Caleb turned 3 months old yesterday and got ANOTHER friend for his birthday!!! Shoshana Joy Mellon made her debut Monday afternoon, and while we were hoping there would be a boy to play with, Caleb loves the ladies too! We can't wait to play with Shoshana and her parents very soon, and we wish her mommy and daddy lots of mazel and energy!

The only other fun thing in our world is that we went to visit our new friend Rinah Lawson on Monday and we played with her puppies! Caleb loved feeling the puppy's fur and getting sniffed. He just laughed and smiled. Then mommy quickly washed his hands. She isn't quite ready for Caleb to start licking the dogs (or his hands covered in dog). If he is going to lick anything he will have to start with the cat. We wouldn't want Simi to feel left out!

Mommy and Daddy enjoyed Date Night with Suzy and Oren and partying at Izzywood on Saturday, and Caleb had a great time hanging out with Nana and Gramps! We are looking forward to Bubbe's visit in less than a week, and then out trip to Houston to meet Great Grandpa Lou!

Caleb and Ella's First Date

Tuesday was officially Caleb and Ella's first date. Caleb had been over to visit Ella a few times, but she was still a little too young for them to play until yesterday.

First we had a visit with Shayna and her Mommy, Ms. Davina, and then Ella came over.



First on their agenda was lunch, which both seemed to enjoy heartily as they thanked their mommies with giant burps. Then they moved on to the entertainment portion of the afternoon when they took in the "movie" of the mobile in Caleb's crib. Caleb was really more interested in the mobile while Ella wanted to cuddle.



Caleb even held Ella's hand!



It is hard to believe that Caleb would be considered BIG by any standards, but he looks huge beside Ella! Lucky for Ella and Calen, their mommies caught the whole thing on video.

The only other exciting thing in our world is the birth of a new friend, Baby Girl Lawson was born Monday at 6:45 PM. She was a late baby like Caleb was!

May Time is Playtime!

Caleb is doing great!

We have had a very busy May so far. On Saturday we visited Daddy's friend Lauren in Midlothian. That was an hour in the car, so it was Caleb's longest car ride to date. Mommy was prepared with a bottle and toys, and she rode in the back the whole way just in case, but the little man slept the whole way! Photos with Lauren will be posted soon!

On Sunday Caleb took Mommy to his first Art Festival - Cottonwood Art Festival. He even bought her a necklace! (He used his allowance for his life so far, which was conveniently EXACTLY the cost of the necklace!) To reciprocate, Mommy bought Caleb a painting for his room. It is exactly like this one except in colors that match Caleb's room.



After the Festival we had lunch with Layla and her Mommy and Daddy (Robyn and Mark). Layla played with Caleb's car seat you and just had to have one of her own! Interestingly, whether because he is a week more mature than the last time he played with it or because he watched Layla show him how it is done, Caleb was much more consistant in his play with it this time. On Monday Mommy went to work and then brought Caleb to visit with her Chiropractor, Dr. Hogan. Caleb was absolutely enamored with her blonde hair and big smile! He is such a flirt already! Ladies lookout!




Then we had dinner with Ms Leanne and headed home for the night.



This morning Mommy decided to try a photo shoot with his Pirate outfit, but he wasn't too interested. He was much more excited about playtime!






Today we are getting an automatic garage door opener installed (hooray!) and the. Hopefully we will be able to meet Shayna and her Mommy for lunch!

Big things are happening this month! We are looking forward to lots of visitors (Nana, Gramps, Bubbe, Elyssa and Beto!), and our first long car trip to Houston at the end of the month!

We can't beleive Caleb turns 3 months old next week!!!
