Caleb's First Sukkot (and Tooth)

Tonight is the last night of Caleb's first Sukkot.  He had so much fun!  On the first day of Sukkot he got to check out the Sukkah that Mommy and Daddy spent a truly inordinate amount of time building.

On Thursday night he had dinner with Ezra and his family and all the neighbors at the Raskin's sukkah. Friday night was super fun, with a visit from Ella (and Aunty Suzy & Uncle Oren), Shoshana (and Mr. Scott & Ms. Alison, as well as Grandma and Nana), next door neighbors Terry and Maria, and our new friend from Music Together class, Sophia (and her parents Sarah and Rajul)!  We had so much fun welcoming everyone over to play and eat!  On Saturday we sang Sukkot songs at Tot Shabbat and then went to pick Bubbe up at the airport.  Sunday we didn't make it to the Sukkah b/c we were having too much fun at the fair, but Monday was a big Sukkah day!  First Bubbe fed him lunch in the Sukkah:

Then Monday night we went to the Young Families Pot Luck in the Sukkah at Beth Torah and Caleb played on the playground with the big kids:

Tonight we finished up with cheerios and a smile in the Sukkah at home!

It was a great Sukkot!  Chag Sameach everyone!

Nap Time!

Though some of these are from last month and some are from this weekend, I thought it was time to show off some Daddy-Baby napping action!

Napping ON Daddy:

Napping WITH Daddy (Caleb and Isaac didn't even wake up to the flash):

Napping with Daddy & SIMI (well, Simi went back to sleep after this photo and they all slept for another 45 minutes after I left)!

And just for the sake of nostalgia... here is one of the early "Napping on Daddy" photos.  This one was at Caleb's first Dr. Appointment:

Caleb Meets Big Tex!

Howdy Folks!

On Sunday Mommy, Daddy and Bubbe took Caleb to his first ever Texas State Fair!  Even though he wasn't quite old enough to try the Fried Beer (that's this year's top new fried food), he had a great time people watching, animal petting, puppet seeing, and generally absorbing all the exciting sites and smells the fair had to offer.  We started out with Caleb's first tram ride from the parking lot. He loved having the wind in his face as he sat in Bubbe's lap:
Once we got there we decided that hat might have been a little small, and his outfit was a little too warm, so we changed clothes right before we entered the park.

Our first stop inside the fair was a visit to the horses, then the pigs. Caleb thought those were pretty cool, but he was REALLY excited when we got to the petting zoo:

The giraffe wasn't interested in feed, but we still got to pet the cow:

We pet lots of other animals too, but the camera was slow and the animals had short attention spans, so this is what we got - Caleb petting Bubbe:
The look on Caleb's face - fascination mixed with surprise and a little happiness was interspersed with shouts of excitement and approving smiles.  No fear in this one!

Then we went to the little farm that they had set up. We got to pose as animals:
And Caleb got to wear an apron!  We didn't do all the activities, but they were really cool!  The kids would "feed" corn to various different animals and take one of their produce (eggs, milk, wool, etc) for their basket.  At the end they "sold" their produce by sorting it out at the farmers' market and got a "dollar" to spend on a snack in the general store.
Caleb was too little to actually drive the mini tractors around the circle, but we was big enough for a super cute photo op!
Then we went to a puppet show.  Caleb wasn't so impressed with the Marionettes, and couldn't care less about the ventriloquist, but he LOVED the black light puppetry (where the puppeteers wear black and move neon things around the stage under a black light.  After the show we got to meet this guy.  We aren't quite sure who or what he was supposed to be, but he looked "fair"ly official and was willing to let us take a picture with him.  Caleb totally dug the sparkliness of his vest.
In the Food & Fiber Pavilion we met Elsie the Borden Cow:
And then it was time for a nap at the Automotive Pavilion.  Caleb was dreaming about fast cars like this Corvette...
We woke up just in time to meet Big Tex:
And see the parade!  This is just before the parade started.  The goofy looking one is Mommy - the other one is a clown with a squeaky glove:
After taking in about as much sight and sound as his little brain could hold with the parade and a walk through the midway, it was time to go home.  We asked Caleb what he thought about his first State Fair experience, and he clearly stated his approval:

And so we headed back to the tram for a quick ride to the car and a not so quick navigation of the labyrinthine parking lot to the wholly unmarked exit.  That's all until next year when Mommy and Daddy may have to reconsider their disdain for the infamous baby leash...

Seven Months of Cuteness

Caleb turned 7 months old on September 10th, and it was time to break out the next one of the picky sticky age stickers Aunt Suzy gave him.  This time Mommy only procrastinated a few days... last time she waited a little too long.  For this post I am just doing a whole slew of photos, but I think the most interesting thing is to note his size in comparison to the light brown teddy bear.  I've been using that for scale measurement purposes in each of his monthly photo shoots.  This month we also decided to go with our Longhorn Burnt Orange in honor of the opening of football season.  Prepare for an overdose of cuteness!

Labor Day Weekend!

This Labor Day, Caleb, Mommy and Daddy took a little trip to Houston to visit family and friends.  We had a great time!  We spent all day Saturday with Elter Bubbe playing and having fun!

She even got down on the floor to play with Caleb!  Mommy was impressed!

We stayed with Nana and Gramps - and Caleb got to play with Shana's tail!
On the way out of town we stopped for brunch with Caleb's friend Maxwell and his mommy and daddy, Sandye and Wolf.
On Monday, since we were off of work, Mommy and Daddy took Caleb to his friend Shane's birthday party at Pump it Up!  There we got to play with Sasa, who was visiting from Kansas, and with lots of friends, including Alexa and Ella and their Mommies and Daddies.  Caleb wasn't so keen on the inflatables though...

Caleb loved chewing on a piece of mango though!

And playing with his friends!

All in all - it was a wonderful weekend!
