Professional Portraits (Five and a Half Months)

On July 23rd Suzanne and I took Ella and Caleb for portraits at Portrait Innovations.  We had so much fun!  Caleb had started sitting up on his own just the day before, so I figured we could try to have him sitting for a couple photos.  Where he had only sat unassisted for 30 seconds on the previous day, he happily posed sitting for almost 5 minutes straight that day.  It just amazes me how, once he learns something, he just "gets it".  We bought way to many photos that day, but here are a few of my favorites!

Poor Baby!

Caleb has been sick with a low-grade fever the past few days. It started on the Fourth of July (so he had to watch his first fireworks on TV) and wavered between 99.5 and 101.5 for two days. On Tuesday I took him to the Dr., and right as we walked in the door he broke out in this brilliant rash:

The doctor checked his ears, throat, and lungs, and besides being a little stuffy, the only issue was the fever. The rash began to subside quickly, and it is pretty much gone. Since we were at the doctor we got the weight update, and Caleb is 12 pounds 15 ounces, or basically 13 pounds. He is still tracking right along that seventh percentile as he comes up on his 5 month birthday Saturday.

His fever broke yesterday and Caleb seems to be in good spirits, but his stuffiness has prevented him from sleeping well the past few nights or napping well during the day. Here's hoping tonight's sleep is a nice long one. Mommy could use it!

Fourth of July and a visit to Huntsville

I don't know how we missed this, but I just realized we never posted our Fourth of July trip to Huntsville!
For those of you following post-by-post, this will be very old news, but for posterity sake, I want to make sure it is included.

Only July 1st, Mommy, Daddy, and Caleb headed to Mommy's hometown - Huntsville, Alabama - for Mommy's 10 year high school reunion.  (And to see GiGi and Papou.)  Caleb did great on the flight - he was definitely dressed for the occasion:

Having Fun on the Plane!
On our first full day in town, GiGi and Papou had friends over for dinner.  Caleb had fun meeting everyone, including Mommy's friends!  He also enjoyed playing under some of the same furniture that Mommy played under as a baby!

July 3rd was the Reunion Day - complete with a family tour of Mommy's High School and then Mommy and Daddy went off to the Reunion while Caleb stayed with GiGi, Papou, and Bubbe.

On 4th of July morning, Mommy dressed Caleb up in his patriotic best:

Then we went to visit Aunt Libby!

Though he wasn't very interested in fireworks, Caleb had a great time playing with his great-grandparents.

Caleb started running a fever at the end of the trip, but all in all, it was a lot of fun!
