Caleb's First Snow Cone

It is hot here in Texas. Really hot. One way to beat the heat is to consume cups of ice saturated with sugar - snow cones!

Today Caleb had his first snow cone. This was also his first time eating from a spoon. He had had water before from a bottle, so this wasn't so much different. We didn't put any flavor in it, so today's experience was really about two things - solids and cold. Caleb seemed to think eating from a spoon was pretty cool, and I think the cold felt good on his gums (he's been starting the teething process I think). Dr Aaron said we could start Caleb on rice cereal this month or next, but that it doesn't have any real nutrition, so it's more for practice than anything. I figure shaved ice isn't any worse, and at least it helps hydrate him!

In other news, Isaac had a great first Father's Day! We had a bunch of friends over to eat burgers and hot dogs and swim! Caleb loved swimming with Mommy and Daddy and borrowing Drake's baby float!

And finally, on Sunday, Caleb started putting himself to sleep. He has always played nicely in his crib with the mobile, usually talking up a storm. But Sunday, on two separate occaisions, Caleb rolled around quietly for a bit and then fell asleep. And now, in the mornings when he previously slept with mommy after nursing, he wiggled around and complains until I put him in the pack-n-play. As soon as he is in the crib or pack-n-play, though, he rolls onto his side and goes to sleep. I guess that's how it is! I know I shouldn't complain - it takes a lot of babies months if training to do this, but I miss having him with me in the mornings!

That's all for now! Mommy is starting an incredibly busy week and half at work, and we are looking forward to seeing Nana and Gramps and Uncle David this weekend and GiGi, Papou, Bubbe, Aunt Lisa and Amanda and the cousins in Alabama next weekend! Oh, and Caleb's first plane ride!

Raspberries!

Caleb learned how to make raspberries this week, so now that is his favorite thing to do! Prior to making them himself, he would laugh anytime someone made one in front of him. So now he demonstrates his new skill whenever anyone is watching (or not).

In other news, we are back in our house after almost a week without air conditioning. Caleb (along with mommy and daddy) is happy to be home.

Life without air conditioning - Day 5

Apparently we have a super fancy air conditioner that has special parts located no where in the entirity of DFW. Of course! So we are still hanging out at Ella and her parents' house. They say it won't be fixed tomorrow either.

We are so blessed to have such wonderful friends, and we appreciate their hospitality so much. Caleb is really loving spending so much time with Ella too.

On another note, Caleb had his 4 month check up with Dr Aaron yesterday and he has been diagnosed with clinical cuteness. (okay, I made that up.) But he tool his shots like a champ and passed all his tests with flying colors. He now weighs 12 pounds 7 ounces, is 23.5 inches long, and has a 16 inch head. All measurements are consistantly tracking at the seventh percentile and pretty much have been since he was born.

I find it funny since many if my friends who had their babies a little early are now seeing their kids jump to a higher percentile compared to their birth measurements, Caleb remains an adorable, perfect, miniature baby!

I don't have any photos from the doctor's office, but here is one from today when Caleb came to work with me in the afternoon because I had a later-evening meeting. He is sitting in Aunt Suzy's chair.

June Play Group!

This morning was our June play group at Layla's house, and Caleb had so much fun! We played with Layla, Dana, Ella, Shoshana, Reah and Marc, and met two new friends - London and Zayden!

Caleb enjoyed rolling around on the floor, playing in the exersaucer, and showing off his new trick, standing, for all his girlfriends! It was so nice to see Marc and meet a new boy, Zayden!

Four Already!?!

Can you believe Caleb is four months already! We have had a busy week!
On Sunday we had brunch at Sweet Tomatoes with our friends Ella, Bella, and Layla:






And Caleb and Layla are now old enough to interact a little!

On Tuesday we had a visit with Mr. Evil I who was actually willing to play with Caleb now that he isn't so breakable!






Then on Wednesday Ella came to visit her Mommy and Aunt Rachel at work:







When Mommy and Caleb got home we took Caleb's 4 month sticker pictures:













Then Caleb showed Mommy his newest trick, standing!!!






On Friday we got home just in time to find the air conditioner broken. Ugh! We toughed it our that night at 79 degrees, but the next day we packed up and headed to Ella's house for a slumber party!

I think the most amazing thing is comparing his size now against the teddybear. Though he now has different ideas about what to do with the bear.

Exersaucer!!!

Even though Caleb is not quite 4 months old yet, I went ahead and assembled his exersaucer today. Tali said she was putting him in hers during the day (with some pillows to help prop him up, and that he enjoyed being in that position watching the other kids. So I figured I would give it a try here.

The exersaucer came in a flat box with a million different pieces. I think you need a masters in engineering to put it together, but somehow I managed. Here is the finished product sans baby:

We sent thank you messages to all of the people in mommy's department at work (this was a gift from them at the baby shower). Caleb really loves the dangling things and even though he can't pull them yet, he loves the lights and songs they make. On the other side there is a keyboard with buttons, and Caleb is already learning how to press them!



Of course I also got everything on video.

Daddy's computer is back in the shop, so we will have to wait on photos from our Houston trip. Also we have been swimming in the evenings now, so there will be those photos soon!

Rock 'n' Roll

Caleb's Bubbe left Tuesday morning (a separate post with those photos is forthcoming), within less than 12 hours he had already reached a new milestone! We now have an increasingly mobile baby! Last night Caleb started rolling onto his side and rotated himself 90 degrees in his crib! He had his blanket wrapped around his thumb in his mouth and was sucking in the blanket and talking, all while reaching for a toy. Of course I cought it on video:

Well, I didn't catch the rolling, but I captured some very cute in the side time.
Of course he wouldn't do it again for his Daddy when he came home, so I put him on his tummy for a bit. All of the sudden, Caleb flipped himself over onto his back! He was just as surprised as we were, and was about to cry until he realized he had actually WANTED to be that way... Then he turned on that 100 watt smile.

I know that I am way behind and there are quite a few things I will post about soon. Namely a visit from Bubbe, playdate with Will, Alexa's Birthday Party, Ella's , Rinah's and Shoshana's baby namings, and mommy's battle with Strep. Life is just a little crazy right now, so I am begging for patience.
