9 Months

I can't believe Caleb turned 9 months old on November 10th!

Here are a few photos of our beautiful boy:

Published way too late.

Caleb's 'Newest' Book

When GiGi and Papou arrived yesterday for their visit, they brought numerous toys and gifts for their great-grandson. But mommy thought this book was particularly special. Aunt Lisa put it in the pile of things to bring, but I guess Aunt Heidi really gets credit for the gift (29 years later)!!

I hope it will answer Caleb's questions about the holidays in a few years too!

Blueberries and Bathtime

When mommy was growing up, her favorite treat at her Grammy's house was a bowl of frozen blueberries. Eaten one at a time with fingers as they melted, there was probably no messier, stainier treat in the world. Mommy still eats frozen blueberries as a healthy dessert now - and Caleb got a lot of prenatal exposure to the flavor. No wonder he loves them too! But oh what a mess!

And after a treat like that, there is no other option but straight to the bathtub!

Caleb is an avid bathtub reader, but there is always time to smile for the camera!

Mommy cannot believe he will be 9 months old next week. These days we zoom all over the house on all fours, but more impressively, Caleb can walk across the room with his push toy or holding on to the furniture. Mommy particularly loves playing rhythm games and banging and clapping along with our Music Together songs. Caleb is even showing musical preferences! His two favorite songs are "I've Been Working on the Railroad" and "Jim-along Josie". He sings and dances along. But there are a couple songs he doesn't like, and he will blow raspberries until Mommy changes them when they come on in the car.

Foodwise, Caleb is becoming a little carnivore with a love for chicken. He also likes cheese, beets, black beans, pasta, cantaloup, and challah. Pretty much he eats anything these days, though he dislikes black pepper and mommy tries to steer him away from salt. Now if only he would show interest in a cup!

Simcha is excited that Caleb is eating cheese and chicken now, as that means two of her favorite foods end up on the floor with some regularity. She is less excited about the cheerios, though they can be fun to bat around the room. She has also started feeling neglected when Caleb doesn't acknowledge her. She will lie down in front of him and when he crawls right past her she will meow, get up, rub past him, and lie back down in his path. Usually he will then give her a passing grab or pat (hit) and then, much to her dismay, crawl around her again. He does answer her with either "cat" or "mow" when she talks to him. This without yet saying Mama or Dada with any regularity (we are really both Dadada, though I also get a very wide shallow aaaaa sound that seems somewhat specific to me. He now also says "Clap Clap Clap" (while clapping) and says "Tatata" for his babysitter, Tali. Strangely, almost everything is a triad with Caleb these days!

Caleb is just such a happy, loving boy. Even though he was sick last week, he was still smiling whenever he wasn't crying. Mommy and Daddy feel so blessed and thankful everyday.

Boo!

Even though Caleb was sick and missed his FOUR Halloween parties last weekend, he still had the opportunity to show off his super cute Fuzzy Dragon Halloween costume today! First we had a trip to the Arboretum with Ella The Butterfly and her family, and then we stopped by Tali's house to say "Trick or Treat." Enjoy the pictures!

Caleb hates touching grass... so if you sit him on it, he won't crawl.
Caleb, this is MY pumpkin!

What are YOU looking at?
Ella pinched Caleb's butt.  He didn't seem to mind.

Say PUMPKIN!
Hooray for Pumpkins!

Happy Fall!

This one's bigger than me!

Hello Ladies!

Caleb LOVES Tali!

We couldn't keep him in the costume for very long stretches of time since it was 82 degrees today (gotta love Texas), but he had a good time none the less!

We hope everyone had a great Halloween full of treats!

Fun in the Park and Remembering the Alamo!

Caleb had a wonderful third week of October!

Saturday was Mr. Brad's Annual Fry Party, and Caleb got to play with his friends.  He wasn't really keen on the grass, so whenever he sat down he didn't want to touch the grass to get up.  Caleb didn't have any of the fried foods, but he enjoyed seeing everyone!

I love Aunt Suzy!!!

On Sunday, we had a fun playdate at the park with Shoshana, Ella and London.  Caleb even tried a slide for the first time!

Then the next day, Mommy and Caleb headed to San Antonio for a conference where Mommy was presenting.  Nana came in from Houston to hang out with Caleb, and we visited the Alamo!

Mazel Tov!

This weekend was very exciting for Caleb and his family!  On Wednesday night Caleb and Mommy headed to Atlanta to help Aunt Amy get ready for her wedding to Uncle Brad.  Caleb had tons of fun (not) being carted around Atlanta in the middle of the night after a late flight and rental car snafoos.  But by Thursday morning he was back to his usual chipper self!  We spent all day Thursday and Friday hanging out with Aunt Amy and Uncle Brad running wedding errands and doing pre-wedding stuff.  On Friday, Daddy flew in and we got to pick him up at the airport.  Caleb had his first "kids eat free" lunch at Quizno's - an apple sauce!

Friday night was the Auf Ruf at Temple Emanuel in Sandy Springs (or Dunwoody... I don't know), and Caleb got to watch the other kids play.  That was really exciting!  But the best was yet to come.

On Saturday Caleb and Daddy spent the morning at the park and then went over to play with Gabriella and her parents Melissa and JJ - Isaac's college roommate and best friend from college.  Gabby seemed a little more tolerant of Caleb this time than she did two months ago - so hopefully by the next time they see one another, she will be happy to play with him.  Saturday night was the rehearsal dinner, and Aunt Amy had picked out a 3 piece suit for Caleb to wear (he wore it Sat. since he did not go to the wedding on Sunday).  He was quite dapper - even if the shirt was a little small so he couldn't button the collar!

Such a dapper little man!
Caleb had a great time eating Cheerios and Avocado at Maggiano's.  He was so happy for Aunt Amy and Uncle Brad that he even told them "Mazel Tov!"

On Sunday, Caleb spent the entire day hanging out with Gabriella and her parents.  He had so much fun!  They played at home, went to the zoo, and Caleb even got to take a bath at Gabby's house.  Needless to say, Mommy and Daddy were very appreciative of JJ and Mel for taking good care of him.  On Monday we picked up Kosher Chinese food in Toco Hills and headed to the Emory Alumni Gardens for lunch.  That is where Daddy proposed to Mommy.  Caleb had a lot of fun watching the leaves fall from the trees and seeing the butterflies flutter around the flowers.  Then it was time to head back to Dallas.

Simi was very happy to see everyone when we came home.  She was especially happy to see Caleb.  She rolled around on the floor and was a little surprised (as was Mommy) at how fast he had gotten.  Caleb is a full-on crawler now, and a cruiser too (as you probably saw in the last video).  It's hard to believe how fast he is growing!

He has gotten really into repeating what you say (or trying to), as you see in the video above, but we are also pretty sure Caleb has also said his first word - "Bye-Bye."  He had been working on it for a while, and the waving has gotten pretty consistant (he even waved at a lady on her cell phone that had lost reception and kept saying "hello? hello?').  Obviously we had been saying a lot of "bye-byes" over the past few days as we left events and people, and last night when we said goodnight to Daddy, as Caleb and I walked down the hall he (in his 15 second delayed fashion) started waving to Daddy over my shoulder and clearly said "Bye Bye".  I turned right around and brought him back to see if he would do it again, and sure enough (also about 15 seconds after we walked away after I couldn't get him to do it on command), he waved back at Daddy and said "Bye Bye" again!  So there you have it!

Expect 8 Month Pictures soon!
