Caleb Wears His First Pair of Jeans

Thought we would dress up today in honor of our friends Yael and Yosef who are visiting from Israel. Caleb is now solidly in size 0-3 and probably weighs about 8.5 pounds. I will officially weigh him tomorrow with the new digital scale purchased just for that purpose.
I have made arrangements to go back to work on April 9th. I will work Monday Wednesday and Thursday through the end of May then I will be back full time.  It is going to be very hard to leave him, but we have found a lovely in-home daycare with an Israeli woman named Talia.  I feel like she will give him the attention and love that he needs to thrive while I am at work.

Caleb is doing something new every day now. He loves watching mobiles and toys, he makes all kinds of adorable noises, and turns his head toward his Daddy's voice on speaker phone. He really loves music too, especially singing, and he also seems to like the Diane Rheim show on NPR (he sleeps well while it is on). We are beginning to see lots of smiles too, though they aren't really in response to anything we do yet. He now loves having his daiper changed (or at least off), and he is beginning to find his hands more frequently. It is really amazing how he changes a little every day.

I hope everyone is doing well!  Come visit soon!

Caleb Sleeps In His Crib!

This picture was taken last night. It is a picture of the baby monitor showing Caleb asleep in his crib. He slept there from 8:45pm until 10:45pm and then we brought him back into our room when he woke up. It was very weird to fall asleep (which I did at 9:30) without him in the room. We are in no rush to move him into his crib for the whole night, but I figure if he is going to sleep for a while and the crib works for him, then great! Being able to see him on a video monitor also helps.

Caleb's First Bottle

Isaac gave Caleb his first bottle (of breast milk) tonight. It's a great bottle that has a nipple within a nipple to simulate the action of breastfeeding. Caleb ate 2 oz from the bottle then breastfed as though he hadn't eaten anything. How much can an 8 lb baby eat?!?  We'll be doing bottles a few times a week to help Caleb prepare for me going back to work next month.

Bris Phots are Ready!

The professional Bris photos are ready!!! To see them go to the link below. You can either order the photos off that website (and Mindi Sue does specialty cropping if you order an off size) or I will be getting a cd of the pictures and uploading them to another website (snapfish) where you can order much cheaper prints and put the pictures on mugs and such. Mindi is also designing our birth announcements, so those should be ordered this week. If you want a batch of them to send to people let me know how many you want.

It was wonderful to see everyone at the bris. We hope you will come back to visit Caleb (and us) very soon!

Caleb Turns 1 Month Old!

Hi Folks!

As you know, Caleb had his 1 month birthday yesterday (Wednesday). We had a great photo shoot with our Birthday Stickers (they are stickers that you put on onesies) that Aunt Suzy gave him.

In the afternoon we visited Caleb's friend Layla and Caleb had his first experience on a play mat. He really seemed to enjoy it. Of course he isn't old enough to really "play" on it, but he watched the lights move and watched the big whale as Layla (who is a little older) batted it around. He seemed to really be noticing it. Then this morning when I put him in his bouncer I could see him watching the hanging toys. Looks like it's time to go get a play mat and some stroller toys! It is so exciting to see Caleb learning and growing!

I have my 4-week follow up appointment at the OB/GYN tomorrow, so I
will ask if the will weigh me twice (once with Caleb) so that I know
how much he weighs. We are also in the process of interviewing
childcare providers this week and next.

We are looking forward to visits from Nana, Gramps and Uncle David this weekend and from Grandma B next week, so I know there will be lots more pictures to come! Also, we are expecting the professional
shots from the Bris to be ready this weekend, so you will get a web address to view those very soon as well!
That's about all in our little world!

Caleb's First Playdate!

We went for a walk and then hung out at the house with Layla Herbert (born at the end of December) and her mommy, Robyn. Caleb seemed relatively ambivalent, but Layla enjoyed cuddling. :)
